OBJECTIVES
To acquire comprehensive understanding of the various components of the Coptic Church history over the past 2000 years.
To obtain a fair knowledge on the history of well known features of Coptic culture including iconography, music and language.
To gain accurate account on the interdenominational shared history, attested by scholers from other churches

To understand the historic background behind various develpments in the Coptic traditions

Familiarise candidates with different church expressions, rituals and their roots and importance
COURSE CONTENTS
Church History: Chronological history analysis of the birth and growth of the Coptic church and culture in Egypt from the first to the twenty first century.
Liturgical History: Study of the historic evidences for the Christian liturgical practices in Egypt and their development over the years starting from the first century.
Interdenominational studies: Studying the Interdenominational common historic facts and practices which should shed light on essentials rather than differences.

TEACHING AND LEARNING STRATEGIES AND METHODS USED TO ENABLE THE ACHIEVEMENT OF LEARNING OUTCOMES: these might include lectures, seminars, tutorials, practicals, workshops, laboratories, distance learning, projects, formative assessment or other methods (please specify)
Lectures to introduce new knowledge to the candidates, basic definitions, concepts and facts.
Distance learning and listening to semnars should broaden the scope of people’s understanding of each of the above topics.
Development of critical academic way of analysing practices and traditions.

I was ordained
as a Coptic Orthodox Priest on the 27th of February 2014 after a long career in
clinical surgery and surgical research
in London along
with long service
in theological teaching as layman in the Coptic Orthodox
Church. Now, I am currently serving as a priest at St Mary &
Pope Kyrillos VI Coptic Orthodox
Church, Diocese of London. I have continued my academic research after
ordination. I studied Theology at the University of Oxford, and was granted a
Diploma. Then I completed a Master of Letters in Bible and Contemporary World with Merit at
the University of St Andrews, Scotland. I published a book exploring the use of
the Book of Revelation in the Church of Alexandria (Can be found https://ecpubs.com/product/book-of- revelation/).
I’m now teaching at The European Academy for Coptic Heritage (TEACH) the
Development of Church Doctrine in the first five centuries.. QUALIFICATIONS
